2020-03-30 Winter Quarter Wrap-up
From MusicTechWiki
Greetings from the inner recording studio walls in the locked down Bay Area!
I hope all of you are doing well!
Thank you everyone for going the extra mile completing assignments in the midst of the challenges and distractions.
If for ANY reason you need some extra help, or accommodations finishing things up, please reach out to me at support@brucetambling.com Our mantra is "Health #1."
The quality of student's work is amazing and continues to blow me away!
Project Folders
It's been great fun receiving Project Folders from students using different DAWs. Not "required" for any assignments this quarter, but I'm super excited about this project. Thanks to those students that have already sent me a ZIP file. I'm going to make some videos explaining EXACTLY what you need to send. And also will make some videos of me providing feedback. Please read these instructions carefully https://www.musictechwiki.com/DAW_Assignments_and_Collaborations And please feel free to send me stuff over Spring Break. It's awesome listening to your work this way!
Spring Classes
Spring Enrollment is happening now. Foothill plans to be teaching online only. If you have any questions regarding what classes to choose I'd be happy to talk about the options.
Crisis and Opportunity
In the midst of the crazy chaos and uncertainty, there have been a few positive things. The Chinese word (symbol) for "crisis" can also be translated as "opportunity." I've been working with remote collaboration tools for a long time. And now. more than ever, we really have an opportunity to leverage our creativity with remote collaborations.
What are YOU doing with all the extra time on your hands? One of the main comments (excuses) I get from students is "I don't have time for _____. Well, NOW we HAVE the TIME! Let's seize the opportunity to be creative. Finish writing that song. Make that beat. Practice those scales and improvisations.
Podcasts
Last week a doctor contacted me to help him produce a podcast about the Coronavirus. This became my 'crash course' in podcast production. It was super cool to see thedoctorwith Podcast post on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and a bunch of other podcast channels. Now being downloaded in 30 countries and growing. I'm not sure I agree with Dr Tim and I will continue to error on the safe side. But, it's interesting to hear a perspective that is more optimistic and positive! https://www.buzzsprout.com/948676/3117031-704-coronavirus-why-there-s-nothing-novel-about-it
