This is a question you will be asking the rest of your career and the answer is constantly changing in the world of music technology. Being a community college, we try to accommodate a diverse range of equipment configurations for students. Since Pro Tools is the industry standard software for all digital audio creation worldwide, our classes at Foothill College are Pro Tools centric. The concepts and techniques are universally applicable to all Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) including Logic, Cubase, Digital Performer, FL Studio, Garage Band, etc.

Students enrolled in the Foothill Music Technology program qualify for significant academic educational discounts from many manufacturers. Information regarding equipment specifications and purchase options is included in the class lesson material. Instructors can help suggest what hardware and software to purchase based on students' budgets. Our community of music tech students, alumni and guest instructors can provide valuable comments and suggestions regarding equipment purchase options and questions.
