Howdy Foothill Music Tech Students!

Welcome to DAY ONE of the 2021 Winter Quarter. Happy New Year!

Sorry this message went out late today. We've been deep into upgrading equipment and rewiring my studio in San Jose. It's taken LONGER than anticipated but is turning out great. We should be back online and functional by tomorrow.

These are challenging times, but we are still going to have an amazing term!

100% Online

Our online classrooms will be in CANVAS. Music Tech classes run until March 26, 2021. 12 week quarters go by super FAST! These classes are fully online and "asynchronous" allowing you to work according to your schedule to meet the weekly requirements.

Zoom Meetings

1. Our Music Tech Zoom Meetings and YouTube Webinars are NOT REQUIRED to attend
   • We hope you can join us!
   • But, we will RECORD the meetings in case you can't make it
2. ALL students in ALL classes are welcome to attend ALL meetings!
3. We currently plan to meet:
   • Wednesdays 1PM - 3PM
   • Fridays 12:00PM - 2:30PM
4. Agendas and meeting URLs to be announced

Avoid Being Droppped!

To avoid being dropped for non-attendance after the official start of class on 1/4/21:

1. You need to show some evidence of participating
   • We recommend that you introduce yourself in the Canvas Discussion Forum
   • You must post at least once in the discussion area
2. If you do not log-in or come to class after a period of 7 days from the first day of the quarter, you may be dropped from the site, but you are responsible for your registration

Foothill College can sometimes be a Three Ring Circus of creative confusion. But there is TONS of HELP available!

Access to Your Course Site

To access or log in to your online course site in Canvas:

1. Go to the Canvas login webpage (https://foothillcollege.instructure.com)
2. Type in the same student ID number and password that you use to log into MyPortal
3. Click on Dashboard
4. Click on your course

Troubleshooting

If you have problems accessing or logging into the course:

1. Call the Canvas hotline at (877) 930-1173 (you can find this number when you select help from the Canvas global navigation bar)
2. Go to the Student Help Desk (https://foothillcollege.freshdesk.com)
3. Call the Foothill Online Learning office at (650) 949-7446.
   • Guides about how to use Canvas are available.
