Over the duration of the quarter, you will have the opportunity to mix the same song multiple times. Creating different versions of your mix provides you the opportunity to try out different mixing techniques and approaches, so that you can develop and refine a song of your choice throughout the quarter.
Instructions
- Choose a multi track to mix
- This can be one you pick from our Multiracks Google Spreadsheet, one of your own original songs or one you source from somewhere else.
- For version 1, do a quick rough mix
- It's not required to use any plug-ins on this first version, but you are free to do anything you want!
- This can be as simple as adjusting the faders, pan knobs, etc.
- If you would like to explore other ideas, approaches and tools for mixing, you can check out the page: Mixing Tips - Getting Started
- Bounce or export a stereo mix audio file from your DAW
- Name your audio file using a version number file naming convention that makes sense to you
- Ex. YourName-SongName-01
- Upload the file to your Mixup account and create a playlist
- This will serve as the main playlist where you will upload future versions of your mix
- For a reminder on how to create a playlist see the Mixup Versions Instructions
