Overview

Even in this digital age, printed business cards are a must. Exchanging business cards is an important ritual in the networking process. We never know when an opportunity may present itself. You might object and say "I'm just a student and not ready to market myself for a job." But you are never too young, or inexperienced to have a business card. My mom printed up the yellow one below for me when I was only 12 years old!

Instructions

1. Print some business cards
   • You can get them very cheap, even FREE
   • Or, print them yourself from a word processor.

2. Take a photo of your card
3. Embed a JPG image of your card in this Canvas Discussion

A good basic format is

• Your Name
• Job Title (this is optional)
• Email Address
• Phone Number

For Job Title Examples

• You can put anything you want
  • Or completely omit
• Singer/Songwriter
• Music Producer
• DJ
• Pro Tools Assistant
• Music Tech Student
• Sound Design

Your job title doesn't need to be what you are highly qualified in. It could be something that you are PASSIONATE about and really want to focus on learning. Your business card is not the yellow pages. It's not a resume or advertisement. Name, rank and serial number is all you need. Keep it simple and don't use micro font. Your Name should jump out! Use a large font size so old people with money can easily read it.
