Objectives
Will this data be accessible, usable and "readable" outside of Google? In other words, for example, will I be able to READ all my "Gmail" archives? (even without a Google account, independently from Google? - I have about 200,000 total email records in this Google Workspace account)
he big nightmare would be if I ever lost access to this Google account (for example, if Google decided to 'terminate or block' this account!) My MAIN objective is ===>>> Have a copy of all the Google Sheets files on my local drive they can be read WITHOUT depending on Google. I'm assuming this would require downloading and converting the Google Sheets to .xlsx file format? Or?.... Thanks!

Hello Bruce,
Thank you for contacting Spanning Support!
Spanning does not support Cross Org restore between two different Google Workspace domains instead we can perform cross-user restore between two users within the same org. Definitely, you can restore and export the backed-up data (Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Gmail Archives) using Spanning backup. You can export all the emails to your local computer and import it into an email client Thunderbird to access all the email locally without login into Spanning.
Spanning uses Single sign-in via Google's own O-Auth, to access your data. Spanning directly does not have access to your data, this is primarily done to ensure data privacy. Also, using OAuth is a Google security requirement and we must use this method so we need Google Services to be up and running to authenticate to Spanning, there isn't a way to access the backups offline through Spanning.
Absolutely, you can export the Google Sheet from Spanning into your local computer, and Spanning would automatically convert the Google sheet to .xlsx file format.
There are several formulas that are specific to the Google Sheet platform that doesn't export to other spreadsheet programs (such as Microsoft Excel). When spreadsheets are exported with these Google-specific formulas, the value that the formula produced will be exported, but, the formula itself will not be. Please note that even though the exported Google Sheet does not have the Google-specific formulas active within the spreadsheet if you were to import that exported .xlsx file back into Google using the native Google import tools, the original formula would then be restored (not just the formula result/value).
This should be the information you are looking for. If it is not and you would like more detail, all we need you to do is reply to this email and we can continue on from here. If you would like to talk to someone, please let us know you would like a call back or call us at 877-282-8857 and select option #3.
We understand that you are busy so if this resolves the issue you don’t even have to contact us back. If we don’t hear from you by tomorrow end of the day, we will go ahead and mark this case concluded for you. Of course, if you need more time or if we may accommodate your schedule otherwise, please let us know.
