Extension:AnnouncementTool

The announcement tool provides several related functions, depending upon which options are selected. Possibilities include:

1. Creates an announcement for specific class websites.
   • Class website announcements automatically populate in the associated Announcements page. For example: MUS66A:Announcements
2. Sends a bulk email message to all students enrolled in a specific class, for the current quarter.
3. Creates a blog announcement that shows up in the News area.
   • Example News.

A very important feature is the ability to Enable Test Mode which sends a test email to Bruce or posts the announcement in Admin:Announcements/Testing.

Note - one of the tricky challenges with this extension was getting the email testing function to work properly. I don't remember exactly what the solution was. But I do remember it requiring a lot of trial and error experimentation with Andrew Fitzgerald and George Chong hacking away with various attempts.
