During this meeting Stacy of the Foothill MTEC Group gave an update on the One Shot Library project. Stacy explains the procedure necessary to complete her task. She discusses the surgical edits and trimming she created to ensure the highest quality sample. Stacy further speaks about the organizational skills needed to be successful with file management for a project like this. Ultimately, Stacy along with the help of Bruce Tambling is creating this library to share with the rest of the MTEC Group and all FootHill MTEC students.
Philip
FootHill MTec member Philip gives a brief introduction explaining his occupations of creative content enthusiast, advocate for at risk youth, and attorney. Philp’s gives an update to one of his songs. Currently he is finishing up his demo, and is planning to schedule studio time at Suspect Studios in the near future.
Ron E Beck
The Foothill Study Group Production Team sits down with local musician, teacher, and mentor Ron E Beck. During the meeting Ron E Beck speaks about entering the new age of music distributions and the workarounds needed to monetize videos on Youtube. Along with Ron E Beck some of his peers touch the subject of the metrics, and discuss what is required to be acknowledged by record labels. Bruce Tambling askes Ron E. Beck about his work with Nick Bell. He touches on the subject of his experience with Analog Tape and Digital music production and how plugins have evolved so that they can replicate the sound of Analog. Ron E Beck gives advice on listening to the mix and knowing your plugins and how critical mixing is to what the listener hears. Bruce relates to what Ron E Beck is saying and adds that the Study Group Production Team is creating a Plugin project to create a collection of plugins that we can all have to collaborate.
Ron E Beck Bio
Ron E. Beck has also performed and recorded with Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. of the 5th Dimension, Bobby Womack, John Lee Hooker, Bill Withers, Bell & James, Robbie Nevil, Sylvester and 2 Tons of Fun Clifford Coulter, Lydia Pense, Sista Monica, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Fred Wesley, Chester Thompson, and Merl Saunders to name a few. Known primarily as a funky drummer, Ron E. is also an accomplished singer whose vocal style has been praised by such notables as Tom Bell, Carlos Santana, Steve Cropper and Wallace ‘Scotty’ Scott of the Whispers.
Kiki
Kiki and the rest of the study group production team speak about the importance of organization when there are many projects on the table. Kiki and the team discuss that it is essential to keep their peers in the loop by giving weekly presentations on individual’s projects. During this session Kiki touches on the fact presenting your work can help others learn more about each other which can lead to partnerships or collaborations down the road. Lastly, the team follows up on Kiki’s project of creating a shareable folder of plug-ins used by audio professionals like Nick Bell, Tyler Page, and Jeff Saltzman. Kiki and the study group production team continue their discussion about their plug-in folder project. During the meeting the team considers Foothill music tech student Tom Farley’s song to be sent to Jeff Saltzman to analyze which plug-ins the group should invest in. The group spoke about nominating a chair to keep up with the agenda and notes of meets for members that are absent.
MTEC Study Group Porject Updates
The study group production team meets to talk over their projects. The team discusses and gives updates on their current projects. Some of these include audio engineering practice exercises where students and team members can learn new and sharpen their audio skills. Clean up their project sheets to keep the team organized and manage their projects. The video editing to create on demand video for students and peers. Lastly, the team makes plans to move ahead with their up and coming podcast.
