Overview

One of the coolest things about Music Tech classes is that you are expanding your knowledge base for 1) how to describe music and the sounds that you hear, and 2) how to create these sounds behind the scenes. This will inevitably alter the way that you listen to music moving forward.

Since you have learned some basics already in this course, this short discussion invites you to listen to a song of your choosing (anything is fine), and to actively listen to it with the following prompt in mind:

  1. Can you notice/name anything in the production that you were not able to name before? Pay attention to audio loops, qualities of instrument sounds, etc.
  2. If you imagine this song through a spectrum analyzer, what might some parts of the song look like?
